Firstly, let’s take a look at what tools you will need. It’s a good idea to have the below items in your kit:
- Electric powered drill
- Screws
- Saw
- Spirit level
- Sandpaper
- Weather-resistant paint

Pallet Sofa
One of our favorite pallet furniture ideas is the pallet sofa. This is ideal for any social butterfly as you can create a social hub in your backyard! If you have a bare corner in your backyard, then you could make a corner sofa to provide a comfortable space for any social gatherings.
You will need to have seven pallets to achieve the look of a corner pallet sofa. We love a corner sofa as it feels a lot more cozy and welcoming!
To begin, we need to make the seats. You do this by putting one pallet on top of another and using your drill to secure the pallet to the other with screws. You want to repeat this process a second time to produce both sides of your corner sofa.
Once this is done, we need to connect both sides of the sofa. Place the shorter side of one pallet against the longer side of the second pallet. Line both sides up to create an ‘L’ shape. Once you are happy, check how level the seat base is by placing a spirit level on top of where you want to join both sides. If all looks okay, go ahead and secure the sections with screws.
Next up, it’s time to make the back of the corner sofa. This bit will be a little bit more tricky as you will need to use two and a half pallets. Grab two pallets and place them vertically against the shorter side of the sofa and the longer side to create a ‘V’ shape. Again, before securing, you will want to use your spirit level to check everything is looking good. Once you are happy with the placement, you can screw them to the base of your sofa.
Next, we need to cut a pallet in half to make the last piece of the back of your sofa. Your spirit level will have measurements along the side so measure halfway and mark with a pencil. Make a mark towards the top, middle, and bottom. Then use your saw to cut the pallet in half.
Lastly, place your halved pallet vertically against the base of your sofa. Repeat the steps from above to level and secure safely. To protect your pallet corner sofa from the weather and mildew, lightly sand the surfaces and paint it with a weather-resistant paint such as the KILZ Exterior Siding, Fence, and Barn Paint which comes highly rated.
As a little additional extra, place some large cushions on the seats to provide some extra comfort for your guests!

Pallet Table
Our next option is to make a table out of your pallets. This is a cheap and easy way to make a table for your patio which will be perfect for when you have a barbeque or if you are just catching up with some friends in your backyard. Surprisingly, you can make a pretty sturdy table from only two pallets!
Your first step should be to cut one pallet in half to the size you desire. Cutting a pallet in half is perfect to make a coffee table. Then, you want to repeat this process on the second pallet too. Make sure to sand the edges and surfaces of your pallet next. Then, it’s time for paint!
If you like the wooden effect then feel free to varnish your pallets. Ensure that your varnish is suitable for exterior surfaces before painting. If you prefer a solid color, then you can go wild! Either paint in a neutral color to tie in nicely with any decor style or you could make a statement and go bold!
Now, you can get ready to secure both table halves to each other. To help you do this, we advise purchasing six fixing plates. We like these Hyever fixing plates as they are stainless steel so are super durable!
There you have it! A coffee table made from pallets which will save you a lot of money and fit in with any decor style in your backyard!
